G.I. Joe

Viper is a common rank within the Cobra organization, serving as the backbone of their infantry. Unlike named characters, Vipers are generally interchangeable, disposable soldiers clad in blue and black armor with a distinctive face-obscuring helmet.

Their primary function is to provide Cobra Commander with a readily available force for carrying out his various schemes, from raiding military installations to engaging G.I. Joe in combat. While not known for exceptional intelligence or individual skill, Vipers are trained in basic combat, weapons handling, and following orders.

Various specialized Viper units exist, such as the Cobra Air Viper (pilots), Cobra Hydro-Viper (frogmen), and Tele-Viper (communications specialists), each trained for specific roles within Cobra's operations. Despite their lack of individuality, Vipers represent Cobra's overwhelming numbers and their dedication to chaos and conquest.
